A Fire In The Hull
Contents
This bootleg was first released as Live In Hull 1983 (picture up left) and then reissued as A Fire In The Hull (pictures up centre & right). It is obvious, that the first issue was the prototype for the second one. A so-called "LIMITED EDITION TEST" pressing, a variety of 7" and 10" acetates and a digipack-CD appeared some time after these first two editions, while further issues and editions are still being added ...
Source
The album features a soundboard recording of the full concert of July 1st, 1983 at Dingwalls, Kingston upon Hull,
the last gig of The Sisters's UK Spring Tour in 1983, PLUS a further two songs from the soundcheck before the gig.
What is special about this bootleg - aside from the really good sound quality - is that many of the songs were played
out of tune and were partially even messed up. With the exception of Doktor Avalanche, every member of the band had
their slip sometimes during the performance. Nowadays, it is, of course, impossible to tell why this happened.
Maybe, the fact that this was the final concert of the tour and that it took place in the hometown of Gary Marx gave rise
to a certain lack of concentration. Anyway, the audience fully enjoyed the concert. And so the listener should be pleased
with this bootleg as well.

Vinyl Editions
First Edition (2015)
- The first edition is a very rare item as it was strictly limited to 10 hand-numbered copies.
- The records come in a generic white cover with a white A4 xerox sheet glued to the cover front that gives all the track and bootleg information
(see also the picture on top of the page). The back of the cover is plain white. Additional front cover sheet notes on this edition: LIMITED EDITION .../10
- However, some copies do obviously not mention the standard line-up as given above, see for example copy no. 7/10 in the last picture here below on the right side,
which also comes in a plastic inner sleeve instead of a white paper one. Also, the information sheet is not glued to the cover front but simply added into the outer
plastic jacket that contains the bootleg as a whole.
- The records were pressed on black vinyl with plain white labels. One side of the labels has "Sisters Hull .../10" handwritten on it in black ink and a likewise black
ink stamp saying "2 July 2015" - obviously the release date.
Test Pressings (2018)
Remarkably, as late as in the beginnings of the year 2018, a series of test pressings has surfaced described as "LIMITED EDITION TEST 2".
- These issues come again with an information sheet simply added into the plastic carrier of the bootleg and not glued to the cover.
- Also nothing is said about how many copies of this "limited edition" actually exist.
- Again, there is no mention of the line-up on this info sheet. It only gives the bandname, the title "LIVE IN HULL, the track list and the recording date.
- The cover is plain white. The vinyl is black with plain white labels and comes in a white plastic inner sleeve.
Second Edition
The second edition comes with a proper cover as shown in the images above and below.
- Additional back cover notes on this edition:
- RECORDED ON THE SOM MOBILE
- PRODUCED BY ROUGH MOUSE
- SPECIAL THANKS TO LG
- This edition was pressed on a variety of different vinyl colours,
single-coloured and multi-coloured, which all appeared
around the same time.
- The labels are black with a dark red print and the old head
and star logo. They specify the bandname, the album title,
the song titles and the side of the record.
- Runout grooves: SOM H1983 -A- and -B-
Single-coloured vinyls (2016)
The single-coloured vinyls usually come with a round sticker in the top right corner saying for example: "LIMITED EDITION <RED> VINYL". Single-coloured vinlys surfaced so far were clear, orange, red and white. 4-LP sets consisting of a collection of all four single-coloured vinyls are sold as well. Despite the limited-edition sticker on the cover front, these copies are not numbered.
Multi-coloured splattered vinyls
The multi-coloured splattered vinyls of this edition are limited to very low numbers of copies and they are all done on clear vinyl. Three rows have, however, been produced so far. The first series was distributed at the same time as the single-coloured vinyls, while the second series arrived some months later in early 2017; and the third issue came up towards the end of that year.
First series (2016)
Existing colour combinations of this issue are:
- clear black and white splattered vinyls
- clear black and green splattered vinyls
- clear black and yellow splattered vinyls
- clear black, white, green and yellow splattered vinyls
According to information @Discogs, there are only 8 copies of each colour combination. However, when these item were sold on eBay, the seller claimed that only 3 copies of each would exist, with the exception of the black, white, green and yellow splattered clear vinyl, of which there were only a single 1 (= a total of 10 multi-coloured splattered vinyls). Anyway, these copies are not numbered.
Second series (2017)
Only very few copies of these colour combinations were made, delivered in the regular cover without any sticker.
Remarkably, the vinyls come with plain black labels without any print.
Known colour combinations are:
- clear red, black, white splattered vinyls (4-5 copies)
- clear red splattered vinyls (only a couple of copies exist)
- clear white (snowflake) splattered vinyl (4-5 copies)
Third series (2017)
Towards the end of the year 2017, a new variation of coloured splattered vinyls arrived, this time made on white vinyl and with fully printed black labels again.
Existing colour combinations of this issue are:
- blue splattered white vinyls
- pink splattered white vinyls
- red splattered white vinyls
- violet splattered white vinyls
Third Edition
A third edition - also consisting of rare test runs has recently surfaced.
It is a reissue on single-coloured darkred, darkgreen, violet and red marbled violet vinyl with plain black labels.
Only four copies exist of the darkgreen and the violet vinyls, and three copies of the marbled violet vinyl. Of the darkred issue,
an unnamed number is produced. The cover of these copies is the standard one from the second edition.
CD Edition
This digipac-CD of the bootleg A Fire In The Hull features the same content as the vinyl versions
and has first been seen some time in 2017.
- According to the cover information, the edition is limited, but there is no numbering
- or definition of the numbers of copies issued on the cover.
- Like the fully printed vinyl cover version, the digipack notes:
- RECORDED ON THE SOM MOBILE
- PRODUCED BY ROUGH MOUSE
- SPECIAL THANKS TO LG
- and
- A VERY MERCIFUL RELEASE HAMBURG GERMANY
- ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. LIMITED EDITION.
