Land Of The Kings - First Edition with White Vinyl

A more recent vinyl bootleg allegedly originating from Japan (2013).

In fact, the first edition appeared in 2014 in online auctions and was delivered from Australia.

Since then some "test pressings" limited to 10 copies have "surfaced"

and various further editions have been issued ...

Source

  • The recording is incomplete, although, it is not known to-date which songs were further played during that gig, (if any).

Cover Art

  • The cover art picture consists of a tone separation from a press photo of Andrew Eldritch,
originally used for an article titled Careless Whispers in Melody Maker, Issue of 16 March 1985
  • The cover art notes:
- TUNE IN TURN ON BURN OUT (altough the tour of that name had been the previous one) and
- NASU DENGAKU MUSIC TOKYO JAPAN LIMITED (supporting the alleged Japanese origin)

Basic Release Notes

remarkably, Land Of The Kings is the only release from this label
  • Catalogue#: - none given, runouts only
  • Format: 12" vinyl LP
  • Released: ongoing since 2014 (allegedly 2013)

Editions

Various editons of this bootleg have been and are being produced.

- Black Vinyl in mere Plastic Sleeve

Test Pressings

These have never been seen sold in online auctions and but only from the
Australian bootleggers directly. So they've appeared in lists @discogs only. Some people do, however, have one ...

  • Limited edition of 10 copies
  • White unprinted cover with standard A4 printing paper insert giving
the band name, the track list, the place and date of the recording,
the theme TUNE IN TURN ON BURN OUT and the limited edition note ... /10
  • Black vinyls with plain white labels coming in a blank plastic sleeve
  • Runouts: SOM LOK

First Edition

All of these issues have been sold first exclusively from Australia since 2014.

Notes

  • The cover is either a fully white or a fully black standard one without any print and comes with a black and white square paper sheet giving the band name, the track list,
the place and date of the recording, the theme TUNE IN TURN ON BURN OUT and the label as NASU DENGAKU MUSIC TOKYO JAPAN LIMITED
  • The vinyls run at 33 ⅓ rpm and have all plain white labels.
  • Runouts: SOM LOK

First Issues
These appeared in the following order and colours:

  • White vinyls with white cover and b/w insert were the very first to appear (early 2014).
  • They soon were followed by amounts of orange, purple and later also red vinyls.
  • Especially the red vinyls seemed to be clear red rather than opaque.
  • Apart from these, grey marbled vinyls appeared, but more rarely and partly from the US.
  • Anyway, the basic white cover colour would soon (by around April 2014) change to black and
white, orange, purple and red vinyls were henceforth sold in black cover with b/w insert.
  • Here too, some exceptional issues appeared (possibly from the US) like the black vinyl and the black and purple vinyl shown below.

Second Issue
From 2015 on, these more or less provisional covers were replaced by fully printed glossy covers.

  • The white background of the cover front now shows a b/w print of the Eldritch-face motive, a large head-and-star logo as well as the band name and the bootleg title.
  • The track list, the place and date of the recording, the theme TUNE IN TURN ON BURN OUT and the label named NASU DENGAKU MUSIC TOKYO JAPAN LIMITED are printed in white colour on the otherwise fully black back of the cover.
  • The info sheets, that formerly been applied to the cover and functioned as front cover were kept as an addition.
  • The vinyl colours remained the same as before: white, orange, purple, red and grey.
  • Sets with all four standard vinyl colours (white, organge, purple, red) appeared.

Second Edition

It took some time - until the end of 2016 - for the first editions
of the "EXTREMELY RARE JAPANESE ONLY VINYL LPs"
to sell out. But they did. And a second edition was released.

These, too, were sold exclusively from Australia. At first...

Soon further issues from the US would appear, followed by
various series of "reissues" with a "Coloured Vinyl" sticker
distributed mainly from Australia, the US and Greece
later in the year.

In addition various Third Editions on multi-coloured splattered
vinyls were released as described further below. These again,
exclusively from Australia.

Second Edition - First Issues (2017)
There is no major difference between this edition and the first edition apart from the fact the the covers are glossy orange now.

  • The letters and pictures on the back cover are printed in black and white now, since the background is orange.
  • Like before, the square b/w insert sheet is added.
  • The vinyls come with plain white labels and SOM LOK runouts.
  • The vinyl colours remained more or less the same (orange, red, yellow, and purple).
The white vinyls were replaced by the yellow ones, the red vinyls are mostly opaque now
and the grey vinyls disappeared. Sets of all four colours were offered right from the start.

Second Edition - Reissues (2017)
As the new edition with the orange cover sold much faster than the white edition had done before, some "reissues" were produced.
The initial load of these again came from Australia and received - for the first time - an explicit catalogue# differing from the runouts.

  • Initial Australian Catalogue#: GOD01
  • Runouts: SOM LOK-A and SOM LOK-B etchted into the respective side.
  • The covers received a "Coloured Vinyl" sticker indicating the colour of the vinyl not only in word but also in tone.
  • Everything else is the same as above: cover, range of vinyl colours (orange, red, yellow, and purple), b/w insert
  • Later series coming from the US, Greece or elsewhere did not mention any catalogue#.
Some American issues, at least, have a "Coloured Vinyl" Sticker on the b/w-insert as well.
  • Beyond that, the Australian and the US issues come with opaque vinyls, while the Greek ones look rather transparent.
  • Also, some white vinyls in orange covers with sticker appeared, but exclusively from the US.
  • Full white unprinted covers like in the very first edition with "Coloured Vinyl" sticker on the inserts have also been seen, but with red vinyls, only.
Possibly, there is just no orange cover in the picture to attract buyers ...

Third Edition

Mid-2017, first issues of this third edition arrived. These are clear multi-coloured splattered vinyls defined as "colour test runs",
of which only very limited numbers of up to 10 copies exist.

They come in glossy printed covers of both versions - orange or white - with b/w insert. There seems to be no system behind, though,
which colour of cover is chosen for the vinyls. Two different issues with either plain white or plain black labels do, however, exist:

White Label

  • Clear Black Splattered Vinyls (with occasional coloured spots)
  • Clear Black Red and Green Splattered Vinyls
