Jon Langford was originally a founding member and the drummer of the Leeds-based band
The Mekons, who were good friend with The Sisters of Mercy.
So, Jon Langford stepped in on bass for a few live gigs in 1981 until The Sisters found Craig Adams.
In addition, The Mekons are featured together with The Sisters of Mercy and various other bands
from the Leeds area on the 1985 compilation They Shall Not Pass, which was dedicated to
the striking miners and their families.
It is also a rumour of the old times that one of The Mekons lyrics does refer to Andrew Eldritch.
During his long musical career, Jon Langford has appeared as a singer, drummer, bassist, guitarist,
record producer, sound engineer and more.
