The song soon became very popular for its light simplicity and its clearness and has been covered by a variety of artists
and bands like Johnny Cash, R.E.M., Stone Temple Pilots, Guns 'n Roses and many, many more.
On 4th September 2017, the first date in Brussels in 2017, Andrew Eldritch and Chris Catalyst performed a cover of Wichita Lineman
as the third and final encore of The Sisters of Mercy's concert at Ancienne Belgique, a brilliant finish of a brilliant show.
