This Corrosion - 12" Single
Floodland - Album
Shot
A Slight Case Of Overbombing
Shot Rev 2.0

This Corrosion was released on September 18th, 1987 on the This Corrosion (single), with slightly shorter lyrics for the 7" single compared to the 12" single.

Originally, This Corrosion was to become the second single of The Sisterhood, but Eldritch changed these plans and kept the track for The Sisters of Mercy's second studio album Floodland. Therefore, various demo versions of the song are circulating with Andrew Eldritch and/or James Ray (of The Sisterhood) on vocals.

Finally, the This Corrosion single was issued as an advance to Floodland, where the song can be found as well. For the Floodland album an accompanying video selection titled Shot was produced, which also includes a This Corrosion video.

This Corrosion was first performed live in 1990 by the Speed Kings at the (unofficial) first gig of The Sisters of Mercy's return to stage after the 1985 split of the old line-up. The song has been part of The Sisters live-set ever since.

In 1993, This Corrosion made its way onto The Sisters of Mercy's compilation album A Slight Case Of Overbombing - Greatest Hits Volume One, while the video was again featured on the revised video collection Shot Rev 2.0, also released in 1993.

Gimme the Ring, kissed and toll'd Gimme the Ring, kissed and toll'd
Gimme something that I missed                     (Gimme the ring)                          Gimme something that I missed                     (Gimme the ring)
A hand to hold, wild and what it seems ...                     (Gimme the ring) A hand to hold, wild and what it seems ...                     (Gimme the ring)
Kill the king, when love is the law, Kill the king, when love is the law,
And the we'll turn round ...   (Gimme the ring) And the we'll turn round ...   (Gimme the ring)
Sing dream child Sing dream child
And do you hear me call?   (Gimme the ring) And do you hear me call?   (Gimme the ring)
On the loan and on the level
On the loan and on the level
... still on the floor   (Gimme the ring) ... still on the floor   (Gimme the ring)
Sing dream child Sing dream child
And do you hear at all? And do you hear at all?

CHORUS         (Sing) CHORUS         (Sing)
        (Sing)         (Sing)
Hey now, hey now now, sing This Corrosion to me Hey now, hey now now, sing This Corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now, sing This Corrosion to me Hey now, hey now now, sing This Corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now, sing This Corrosion to me Hey now, hey now now, sing This Corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now., sing... Hey now, hey now now., sing...

Gimme siren, child and do you hear me?
Gimme siren, child, and do you hear me call?
Sing, child, of right and wrong
Gimme things that don't last long
Gimme siren, child, and do you hear me call?

CHORUS
On daze, like this
In times like these
I feel an animal deep inside
Heel to haunch on bended knees
Living on if and if I tried,
Somebody send me ... please ...
Dream wars and a ticket to seem
Giving out and in
Selling the don't belong
Well, what do you say
D'you have a word for Giving Away?
Got a song for me?

CHORUS

I got nothing to say I ain't said before
I bled all I can, I won't bleed no more
I don't need no one to understand
Why the blood run, hold
The hired hand
On heart.
Hand of God,
Floodland and Driven Apart
Run cold,
Turn
Cold.
Burn
Like a healing hand
Like a healing hand
Like a healing hand
Like a healing hand
