Black Sail (song)
During their first concert of the new decade in 2020
on March 7th at the Manchester Albert Hall,
The Sisters of Mercy introduced a second new song
to the audience titled Black Sail.
It was introduced with the remark that
"This one's gonna be a bit weird
... we haven't yet figured it out."
Our thanks go to Ingo Wennemaring for this video
of the very first performance of this song.
Lyrics
- yet unknown, some attempts at the lyrics can be found here @The Heartland Forums. These are the current results as of Bristol -
Oh, there's a space between the stars.
There is no captain until you do.
We threw a line; we ... not ...
We are many; we are few.
I keep my fireworks on the bridge.
Hold my crew from side to side.
The world is skinny, well, the world is wide.
We are many; we are few.
Heave away, boys: heave away, now.
Heave away, that's what you do.
Heave away, heave away, now.
We are many; we are few.
Threw a line; we did not heave it.
They are many; we are few,
There is space between the stars.
There is no captain until you do.
I keep my fireworks on the bridge (Heave away, heave away, boys)
They were many; we are few.
Heave away, heave away, now
Heave away, that's what you do.
Heave away, boys; heave away, now
They were many.
