Brixton Ace Flyer 1983

Brixton Ace, London, England

1983 06 19 & 29 Brixton Ace Events Newspaper Announcement.jpg

Extended decade-long research among the fanbase has credibly proven, that there was NO concert of The Sisters of Mercy at Brixton Ace on June 19th, 1983 during their UK Spring Tour.

This assumption is an error most likely based on a change of digits by tape traders. The Sisters concert that the present date probably got mixed up with took place on Wednesday, 29 June 1983.

As a matter of fact and as visible in the newspaper announcement here on the right and the flyer on the left side, Einstürzende Neubauten, were envisaged to play Brixton Ace that night, initially together with SPK and Test Department.

According to SOUNDS in their issue of June 16th, 1983 Einstürzende Neubauten objected, however, to play with the other two bands and as a matter of consequence, The March Violets were booked instead, together with The Loved One and DJ Stevo.

This way or other, The Sisters of Mercy were scheduled from the beginning to play Brixton Ace on June 29th.
