Moving Shadows In A Land Of Darkness
From SistersWiki.org - The Sisters Of Mercy Fan Wiki
A picture disc featuring a collection of live cover versions performed The Sisters of Mercy by at different concerts during 1983 - 1993.
Release Notes
- Label: K.R.Ü.M.E.L. Records
- Catalogue#: ON PD 2323
- Format: 12" vinyl LP, Picture Disc
- Released: 1994 (Italy)
Remarks
- Released in at least two editions.
- The first edition is limited to 200 copies, the first 20 of which came in a handmade wooden box.
- The other 180 copies come in a transparent plastic sleeve. All copies are hand-numbered.
- An insert showing the Under The Gun theme and detailing the track list is included in all issues.
- On the flyer, there are several (spelling) mistakes. Most importantly, the recording date
of Track A5 - Knockin' On Heaven's Door - was actually 15.05.1985, Gothenburg not "Goethebourg",
instead of 16.05.1985. The song was neither played on May, 16th at Vikateatret, Oslo nor
on May, 17th at Kolingsborg Club, Stockholm which were the two other Swedish dates of that tour.
- The credits for the songs given on Discogs are partly wrong (Silver Machine) or incomplete
(Comfortably Numb), (Stop Draggin' My Heart Around). Crediting Come Together to Chris Cornell
is simply false. Chris Cornell did only cover The Beatles' Come Together.
- The vinyl on side A as well as the flyer note:
"a carter/.rizla. production for K.R.Ü.M.E.L. records 1994"
- Vinyl side B notes:
- side a (that side): the original mercy side b: (this side) the years after the highlights
- The second edition was allegedly released in the same year as the first one
and is an Italian reissue.
- While the vinyls look the same, the accompanying insert differs remarkably.
- It is not numbered and says: 1994 - DISTRIBUTED BY DISCOMAGIC srl.
(with a phone no. and a fax no.)
- Like the original insert, it does lists the tracks, but instead of the recording details
it gives the credits for the origin and the duration of each song.
- The Under The Gun theme is gone. There is, however, a blue rubber stamp on it.
- The catalogue# is given as well - ON PD 2323
- Also, a very different font was used - sans serif, mostly bold and in capital letters.
- Like the original insert, this one has mistakes as well, but different ones:
- Jolene is called "Solene"
- He's Got The Whole World In His Hands is noted as "He's Got The Whole World In This Hands"
- Some Kind Of Stranger is not mentioned at all.
