Electric Garden - Cover (front)
Electric Garden - Cover (back)

A 12" vinyl bootleg from the 1990ies ...

There is however not much known about this release, though the whole production seems to be relatively low-level with badly glued covers showing the logo in home-printer quality of back in those years.
And also the labels are simple and do not give an further information.

The reproduced audience recording is rather flat and shows some up and downs of the volume regulation, which finally gives the impression of an average sound quality of the end-product.

And that's a pity, because the worth of the musical contain of the present bootleg with regard to the chronicle of music of the Sisters of Mercy and the bands history is definitely invaluable.

Read more further down in the section "Remarks".

Release Notes

Some Girls Wander By Mistake - 2 LP Gatefold Cover (front)
  • Label: unknown
  • Catalogue#: non
This album served as a blueprint for the front cover art work of the present one.
  • Format: 12" vinyl LP
  • Run-out scratchings: Mercy A, Mercy B

Remarks

  • Pressed on black vinyl with plain white labels
  • The centre-hole of some of the vinyls is slightly too small.
The text "SOME GIRLS WANDER BY MISTAKE" was changed to
"ELECTRIC GARDEN · STOCKHOLM 26 OCTOBER 1983" and the dates "80" and "83" were blanked.
  • The back cover notes are just the track list an the venue dates.
  • Therefore the only writen "hint" on the cover front and back about the interpreter of the LP
is the word "Sisters". On the spine is printed in small letters "sisters of mercy".
  • The band appeared on stage as a three men piece.
Later on, duing the Armageddon Tour there were a lot of concerts held this way,
but always in the line up Adams - Eldritch - Hussey.
The distinctiveness at this gig is that the line up was Adams - Eldritch - Marx.
  • In the latter line up there were only 4 concerts played (ever and world wide).
The gigs were performed in Manchester, in Stockholm and two times in the USA, Los Angeles and San Francisco in September and October 1983.
These two months the band appeared with less members, because of the coincidence that Ben Gunn had already left the band,
but they were still waiting for Wayne Hussey to join them.
Concluding, there are just these two live recordings saved on vinyl were Gary Marx is the only guitar player of the personnel.
  • Due to (logistic) problems, the sound of the drum machine Doktor Avalanche was reproduced from a tape recorder during the whole concert.
Maybe this is the main reason of the "flatness" of the sound of the present recording,
but on the other hand this release is the only document on vinyl were Doktor Avalanche isn't recorded "live", but "playbacked".

Some of the quotes

From the audience: “Where’s the drummer ?
Andrew: “He’s in the box. What’s in the basket?

(The box refers to the tape recorder.)
  • Before Floorshow refering to the circumstance of being just three band members:

We’ve got a new guitarist who can’t be with us today, so next time we’ll be four people.
This is called “Floorshow” and it’s bloody good!

(The new guitarist is ought to be Wayne Hussey.)

From the audience: “1969!!!"
Andrew: "No, we don't play 1969 anymore.
               Body Electric
"

(Confirming the message about this song from the famous concert at Brixton Ace half a year before.)

Source

An incomplete recording, as Emma and Adrenochrome were performed just before Floorshow are not included.
