Technical remarks
- The songs were reproduced by a Pioneer PLX 500 turmtable and digitized with its software Rekordbox DVS.
- Due to Wikipedia storage space limits the files had to be converted from a lossless format to mp3.
- All the songs went through the same conversion process and are accordingly still comparable,
- although they are of less sound quality than the originally generated files.
- The records were taken from a private collection. They have different grades of use and age.
- According to the Goldmine Standard for grading most of the vinyls are near mint,
- with the exception of Lord Of Darkness, Halloween In Arkham and Jolene bw No Time To Cry, which are very good plus,
- and A Black Pack that can be considered as very good.
- One should bear this in mind while comparing the sounds.
- We want to emphasize that all the sound files are the first seconds of the songs.
- The files were not manipulated adulterantly or shortened during the recording and conversion process.
Analisis
- First and foremost one should turn his attention to
- - the clearness of the sound, and if the instruments are distinguishable.
- - to the treble sound, like the the sound of the hi-hat of Doktor Avalanche, and if it is to sharp or - the other way around - even lost.
- - to the pitch.
- Because of the low quality of the mp3 files, the bass sounds do not differ too much.
Further observations
- The up- and downturn of the speed in Floorshow (seconds 6 to 7) on the present item, the Complete BBC Radio One Sessions Box, as well as on the Gimme Shelter LP,
- give the impression that the songs come from the same sorce, which is most likely a different one from the other bootlegs.
- On a lot of bootlegs the songs were shortened, as it is clearly audialble on Heartland and No Time To Cry.
- Sometimes songs get shortened on a LP due to the limited time of one record side, which should be about 22 minutes.
- If the playing time would increase, the record lacked sound quality.
- For example, the second side of the Psychedelic Sessions 1986 LP has got a total playing time of 23:15 minutes.
- Maybe this was the reason why the beginning of No Time To Cry was skipped there.
- On the present item non of the songs is shortened.
